It's been repeated for many years that "kids say the darndest things." I agree. However, don't they also say the sweetest, most memorable, feel-good things?!
My 4 year old niece, Abby (you might remember her as "Little Red Riding Hood" in an earlier post) tugs on my heart strings each time we are together with a leap into my arms and a shout of "AUNT BECKY!!!" One sleepy evening at Grandma's house last week she climbed onto my lap and snuggled in. Then she rubbed the side of my face with her little hand and whispered,
"Aunt Becky, I'm so glad we love each other."
I know I will always treasure that moment as I watch her grow.
