65 Years Together

This past Saturday, our family gathered for an afternoon of great food and lots of laughter in celebration of my Great Aunt Shirley and Uncle Jim's 65th wedding anniversary.  They have been a constant presence in my life and the lives of my parents and my children.  Aunt Shirley and my Grandma Lura were sisters.  I loved being at their home in Paris, Illinois when I was just a little girl...Uncle Jim was the only person I knew who could play the accordion and I begged to hear it at each visit.  Aunt Shirley's perfect peanut butter fudge was plentiful and we always played on the semi-circle brick steps at the front door.  Their farm remains one of my favorite places to be.  The coffee is always on and now we visit in the rockers on the porch.  (They make THE best coffee around!) We visit about sewing and farming and family.  The memories of our family together will always fill my heart and Aunt Shirley and Uncle Jim will certainly be at the center of those memories.  HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!  WE LOVE YOU!

  1. Didn't we have fun? I will treasure the looks on their faces forever! Thanks to everyone pitching in and making the big effort to be there, and make it look 'country special', it was a day that we will ALL remember so sweetly. So glad you were there!
