Harvest Update

The 2010 corn harvest is well underway!  Alan's alarm rings loudly each morning long before dawn.  He is always quick to silence it to let me continue sleeping as my day doesn't begin quite that early.  He quietly heads for the kitchen and the coffee pot and then to the end of the driveway for the newspaper.  His day begins.  Every recent morning our farm lot is filled with the pickups of Jerry, Stan, Tyler, Danny, Rob, and Alan.  Occasionally a four-wheeler appears in the mix, too.  Alan practically skips out the door to do what he loves so passionately.  It's his favorite time of year and despite the occasional elevator line or equipment malfunction, he keeps his chin up and smiles through it all.  The monitors in the combines are registering yields in abundance of his expectations.  He usually gets back to the house late in the evening, shuffles to the shower, kisses his wife and calls it a day.  We have a weekend-long date planned post-harvest...it's in his phone.  Life is Good!
